The 6×19M-WSC rope is constructed by twisting six outer steel wire strands around a central steel wire strand (Wire Strand Core, WSC). Due to this central wire strand core, it is also commonly referred to in the industry as "7×19."
The designation "19M" indicates that each strand consists of 19 wires (typically arranged in a 1+6+12 configuration) and that the wires within the strand are laid using identical diameters. While the lay angles of the wire layers are equal, their lay lengths differ; this causes the wires in adjacent layers to cross one another, resulting in contact occurring only at the intersection points—hence the term "point contact."
