8×19S-NFC

The 8×19S-NFC is one of the most classic and widely used wire rope models in elevator traction systems. Unlike the steel-core ropes for high-speed elevators discussed previously, its key feature lies in the flexibility and self-lubricating properties provided by the Natural Fiber Core (NFC).

Seale (S) characteristics: The outer layer consists of thicker wires, while the inner layer consists of thinner ones. This "thick-outer/thin-inner" design imparts excellent external wear resistance to the rope, effectively withstanding the friction encountered within the grooves of traction sheaves and diverter pulleys.

Acting as an "oil reservoir," the NFC continuously lubricates the inner wires, significantly reducing internal wear and fatigue, thereby extending the rope's service life. This is also why periodic external lubrication is required during routine maintenance.

When selecting an 8x19S-FC rope for an elevator over-speed governor, a synthetic fiber core (SFC) is typically chosen. Synthetic fiber cores offer the advantages of being non-absorbent and rot-resistant, while also providing excellent dimensional stability. This ensures that the governor rope’s length and performance remain unaffected by core swelling or decay caused by moisture absorption—even in hoistway environments characterized by high humidity or significant temperature fluctuations—thereby guaranteeing the absolute reliability of this safety component.
